UPDATE!!!  LERA HAD A FAMILY COMMIT TO HER!  YAHOO!!

LERA, Girl, Born August 7, 2005

Lera

And if this one specific child doesn’t have a family committed to her adoption within the next few days, she will be sent to a mental institution where she will then be unadoptable and ‘sentenced’ to a crib for the rest of her life. Here’s a little about her: Lera is a gorgeous little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is 4 years old. She is quite high functioning, and doing very well. She has flat feet and a systolic heart murmur, but no major heart conditions. She is able to walk and climb, she eats by herself, dances, and understands and follows directions. She has also been transferred to the regular class, so she living and learning with her typical peers. There’s a grant of $1,000 available to the family that adopts her. It’s so sad that she’s run out of time. She is in RUSSIA and those are closed institutions. Here’s the info about adopting from her region of Russia: 2 trips Both parents for first trip, about one week Both parents travel for 2nd trip, approximately 14 days (One parent may leave after the court proceedings are finalized, after about 5 days.) Total program and travel fees under $25k Fee includes a $1000 orphanage donation Only one child can be adopted at a time Married couples and single mothers may apply Please pray for a family for Lera to come to her rescue quickly!! Are you that family?

Our family feels God calling us to adopt again, this time through Reece’s Rainbow…..I have been in contact with Andrea, so she is aware of our desire. One of our girls, Lydia, has a great affection for Nadine. She looks at her picture and prays for her almost daily. Chappy left for Africa this morning for a two week mission trip; he said we’d make some final decisions upon his return. My heart breaks for Lera. I know you are aware of our constant prayers for Polly.
    Blessings to you,
    Mel

Lera is a beuaty and sadly the reason for my comment is not about her. I so pray that she finds a family though!
I have been lurking here for awhile but tend not to comment much but now I am looking for some help and thought of you. Some very dear friends of mine are expecting, they are ay 24 weeks and have learned that the baby probably has Downs ( has markers but haven’t had an amnio to confirm) but of bigger concern is that fast that the baby has CDH (congential diapramtic hernia) and I am looking for others how have had babies survive CDH, do you any other bloggers who might be out there.

    Thanks

J, thanks for your comment. I will pray for your friends and their little one. I haven’t heard of CDH but neither of my children with Down syndrome had significant heart problems at birth. I’d like to point you to a wonderful support forum on-line for parents and friends and family of kids with Down syndrome: http://www.downsyn.com/phpbb2/index.php?sid=d922a11c057ec8f4fd7bc65b98d6d59d

Maybe someone there could help you more specifically, but I’m happy to contact your friends for general encouragment if that would help.

      God bless.

OK, ….we were on YouTube tonight looking at a video of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” for a violin recital she will be in next month when we saw a couple of videos for Reece’s Rainbow. On one of the videos, we noticed a little girl in a yellow dress that looks so much like our little Hope it is scary. I said: “That’s our daughter!” We transferred over to the Reece’s Rainbow site but couldn’t find the photo. I started thinking: hmmmmm, wonder if this could be Lera. I emailed Andrea and asked her to send me more photos of Lera if she had them, and bingo, it was the same little girl in the yellow dress. Chappy is in Africa, so I really can’t officially commit, but I have asked Andrea to give me more details on the situation. Just thought I’d let you know. Praying for Polly-Girl.

Oh well…..got all excited for me, but someone else has already snatched Lera….so now I’ll be excited for them (and for Lera!)
We are still looking at a couple of others. As stated yesterday, Chappy says we’ll make a decision when he returns from Africa! I think all of this happened to just get me more and more excited about adopting again!

Blessings to you….and thanks for getting the word out about Lera.
